October 1st – giveaway!

To me, October 1st is one of the best days of the year.

…along with the 364 other days of the year.

(Yes, I’m one of those obnoxiously chipper people who think every single day is a wonderful day worth living and being excited about. Not because of what each day is or holds, but because of the God who created each one of those days. What blessedness is ours!)

And because it is October 1st today, I got the urge to send a fun autumn-y package to someone.

(Earlier today, I traipsed across campus–ok, so it was more of a slow waddle since I’m still recovering from surgery, but . . .details, details–with some apple turnovers and a “Happy October 1st!” note for some dear friends of mine in the dorm across the lawn. It inspired me to send a package, and the inspiration was not to be denied!)

The urge is not for any particular reason except the fact that I love sending fun autumn-y packages in the mail, and I am blessed with so many wonderful people to choose from!

Who shall it be?

I decided to narrow it down to the few readers of my paltry little corner of the internet world which has been collecting much dust lately.

Leave a comment and tell us what the best thing about today has been so far.

Perhaps you shall get a fun package in the mail!

Giveaway ends on October 8th, and the recipient shall be announced within a day or two thereafter. If your name is not drawn out of the pool of names, don’t worry–perhaps next time.

I so love sending packages in the mail!

*Disclaimer: The package will not contain a cozy orange kitten, unfortunately.

  1. a rainy day, reading a sermon, a steamy cup of coffee, sweet conversation with a friend, and best of all, delighting in Jesus!

  2. Now I have to sit and think for awhile on what the best thing about today was. There are lots of best things in every day. ;) I should say getting my shopping done for a 9-week adventure coming up was definitely a lovable thing. Also spending the morning with my mom, and crocheting myself some boot cuffs. And painting my nails a nice fall color and eating some delicious banana muffins my sissy made. See? Too many things. ;)

    Love you!

  3. Meditating on Jim Elliot’s interpretation of “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart”, meaning the LORD would give you THE DESIRES.

  4. I love autumn….it’s my favorite season…..and the best thing about today was getting hugs from Noah……2 year old hugs are the best :o)

  5. Riding a moto in Haiti for the first time along with two other passengers and the driver. Yes–4 adults on one moto! (But you won’t be able to send the package to me, so please don’t include my name in the drawing.)

  6. Jesus. He is truly the best of every part of my day. “Oh to know Him and make Him known.” He is faithful to His children!! “Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus!!”

  7. today? it’s just been great! helping make a pretty dinner from leftovers, a really great leadership meeting at work, getting approval from my boss, hugs from my little sister …splendid, I say!

  8. I have a really nasty midterm coming up on Wednesday, and today during our class review my teacher told us that there won’t actually be that many questions on the test, and there’s a bunch of extra credit to help boost our grades. Yay! :)

I’m really glad you’ve started posting on your blog again; I missed reading from you for awhile!

  9. Maybe not THE best thing, but certainly A best thing about today was receiving a late birthday gift from a friend. One of the things she gave me was the New Testament on audio CDs! I was so grateful to her but secretly I was SO grateful to God because He is the one who actually knew I’ve wanted something like that. =)

  10. Watching dear Grace walk across campus as fast as she could :) And your super fun outfit!

Realizing that my brother has been married for one day, and for exactly one day I have had a sister (in-law)! And another day to be alive, and a day of praising the Lord for His many blessings and His great faithfulness!

  11. Quiet time with the Lord as I mowed the lawn in the beautiful fall weather. : D Seeing the sun shine on golden trees and crisp freshness in the air.

  12. Dancing across the bridge over The Nile with my baby girl. Despite crossing that bridge every day we’ve never stopped over it before :)

  13. Reading all of the replies of what makes other people’s lives fantastic. =]

Also- the sunrise this morning was fantastic. I like to look at the Lord’s artwork… it really puts me in my place. AND it was cool enough that I wasn’t constantly being bitten by mosquitos!

  14. Haha! What a coincidence! (I won’t tell you why, you’ll find out soon)

So what is the best thing about this day so far? Only one thing? Will I be disqualified if I name more? Or do I get increased chances of winning if I post more? 1) finding it an easy thing to trust Him today, 2) being finished taking care of a dreaded task, 3) discovering a really entertaining blog about someone hiking the appalachian trail, 4) crunchy potato skins with paprika for breakfast, 5) holding my little brother’s hand, 6) your chipperness :-)

  15. Grace. You make me smile, your blog makes me smile and our love of fall makes me smile. Oh, and giveaways :)
Ok, the best thing about today? Taking a walk among crunchy leaves with my nephew. Skipping with him, swinging him between my sister and I, and watching him wave to cars. And now the beautiful fall breeze that is blowing through the windows asking me to make a chai latte.
Mmm, Fall makes everything more exciting, taste yummier, smell sweeter… I’m so expectant for my first Fall at Ellerslie! God is SO good! Love you.

  16. Best thing so far today? Figuring out a more efficient way to do something at work and getting a lot done. :)

  17. Traveling home from a week of vacation, with the family I am in Ministry with!!! What a gift from the Lord, a week of rest!!! Much to be thank-ful for on these beautiful fall days!! ~ Rachel

  18. A blog read by Grace… l suppose I didn’t realize before that you had a blog, but today was a happy surprise and I so enjoyed reading. :) I shall return.

  19. Today’s highlight? Cleaning out my email inbox – finding and replying to sweet notes of encouragement of friends and discovering opportunities {like this one!} that I thought I’d missed. And anything that has to do with you makes my day brighter. :) Jesus is the best bit though.
